Avondale Day Festival 2024
“In the City of Cincinnati, African-Americans live an average of 68.3 years, over 8 years less than other races. Overall, rates of diseases and conditions ranging from diabetes and cancer to high blood pressure and hypertension are significantly higher for African-Americans in Cincinnati.” *
The overall health and wellness of the black community is dependent on the health of the black family. African Americans are dying from preventable diseases at 10 times the rate of other races, which drives the mission of the Avondale Feet in the Street 5K and Avondale Health Fair & Festival. We believe making a lasting difference in lives improves the health and well being for all.
Last hosted in 2019, the Avondale Festival & Health Fair and the Feet in the Street 5K, are produced by the Avondale Development Corporation in partnership with Avondale Community Council and Avondale Running Club, and offers a lifeline to at-risk African American families by providing health screenings, counsel and important information – all in the context of a day-long festival where friends and family can offer their support and encouragement.
The event is organized by the Avondale Community in partnership with the Avondale Development Corporation. Other partners include Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital & Medical Center, The Center for Closing the Health Gap, Urban League, and the Avondale Running Club.
