Derek McCain joined the Avondale Development Corporation (ADC) in January 2023 to lead ADC’s real estate development strategy. He oversees the growth of the ADC's development platform to include new construction, adaptive reuse, and acquisition/preservation projects. He is responsible for the execution and continued growth of ADC’s development pipeline, including all aspects of the real estate development process from initial conception through construction to lease-up and stabilized occupancy or sale. He brings more than 10 years of experience to ADC in housing, including acquisition, financial analysis, and underwriting of residential and commercial developments.

 

Prior to joining ADC, Derek served as senior development officer and development manager of the Housing Division in the Department of Community & Economic Development for the City of Cincinnati. In this position, he led a high-performing team while managing the department’s largest in-house real estate development incentive programs, including the Notice of Funding Availability, Preventing Homelessness Funding Opportunity, and CRA Tax Abatement programs.

 

Derek holds a master's degree in urban and regional planning and a bachelor's degree in urban studies from Jackson State University. He also holds a Rental Housing Development Finance Professional Certification and Economic Development Finance Professional Certification from the National Development Council, amongst other relevant certifications.
